The life of an SMU student is often lived in weeks—one to fifteen. Week Seven is when all the mid-term examinations come in. Week Thirteen, famously known as “Hell Week”. is when most projects are due. It is a rite of passage for students to stay back late into the night, to rush projects or to complete assignments. This view of SMU life seems to be the strongest amongst freshmen and sophomores. By one’s junior year, many would have gone on exchange, and have realised that many other things factor into life beyond one’s grades. SMU seniors are of a different breed—global in nature, ambitious, confident, and less fanatical about the SMU rat race.
