Starry Nite, a name adopted from the famous ballad by Don McLean, is usually anything but a ballad. Organised by students for students, it is a rock concert right in the heard of SMU, held twice a year on the last Friday before each semester’s reading week. The show venue has always been the Big Steps—a row of steps leading up from the basement of the School of Information Systems to ground level. The band line-ups may change over the years, but one thing remains—it is always loud. Really loud.
